Context
Scattered ESG risk does not make it into the decision.
Environmental embargoes, lawsuits, certificates, restricted lists, sanctions and adverse media are spread across dozens of sources, each with its own format and update schedule. Without a consolidated reading, each analyst compares customers and suppliers in their own way, and the decision can be neither repeated nor explained to the committee or the auditor.
A score is only worth something if it can be explained.
How it works
From source to score, with the origin of each record
-
Collected
70+ public, regulatory and global sources checked by CNPJ.
-
Organization
Each record falls into one of 12 risk layers, organized into 5 dimensions.
-
Score and confidence
The 0 to 1,000 score comes with the Confidence Index. ESGreen only publishes a score when there is enough data.
-
Recalculation
Under monitoring, the score is recalculated every month and with every relevant new fact, and the monthly history is kept.
-
Reading time
Overall score, by dimension and by layer, with the risk band and the source and date of each record.
ESGreen Score 2.0
ESGreen Score 2.0: what makes the score trustworthy
Five principles make the Score a fair, comparable and defensible reading before the committee and the auditor.
-
Missing data is not penalized.
Missing information does not become a bad score. The score reflects what is known about the company, and what is missing shows up in the Confidence Index.
-
The score comes with a Confidence Index.
Every Score comes with a Confidence Index from 0 to 100, labeled consolidated, partial or preliminary. The team knows how much it can rely on the score for the decision.
-
Only publishes with a sufficient basis.
ESGreen only publishes a score when there is a sufficient basis. While the basis is being completed, the company appears as “collecting data”.
-
Proven facts weigh more than indications.
Proven serious facts, such as being on the list of employers using slave-like labor, an active sanction or an irregular registration status, cap the score regardless of the rest of the profile. Indications, such as an ongoing lawsuit, count in the dimension where they appear, without setting the score on their own.
-
Maturity adds and never subtracts.
ESG maturity proven in the Evidence Assessment adds points to the score. Those who did not respond lose nothing, and maturity never erases a proven serious fact.
Each score shows its breakdown by dimension and by layer, and the monthly history shows when the risk changed. Explore the Evidence Assessment

Reading time
The higher the Score, the lower the risk.
The ESGreen Score ranges from 0 to 1,000 and reads in three risk bands. The score always comes with the Confidence Index and the breakdown by dimension and by layer, so the analysis shows what weighed in.
The band is an input for the credit, procurement or compliance policy. The decision always rests with the institution.

Frequently asked questions

What is the ESGreen Score?
It is an ESG and climate risk indicator by company (CNPJ), on a score from 0 to 1,000: the higher the score, the lower the risk. ESGreen Score 2.0 reads 70+ sources in 12 risk layers organized into 5 dimensions (Legal, Tax, Environmental, Integrity and Governance, and Climate) and publishes the score with a Confidence Index.
Does a high score mean high or low risk?
Low. In the ESGreen Score, the higher the score, the lower the risk: 0 to 300 is high risk, 301 to 750 is medium risk and above 750 is low risk. In the IRC-ESGreen, which measures climate risk, it works the other way around: the higher the index, the higher the risk.
What is the Confidence Index?
It is an indicator from 0 to 100, published alongside the Score, that shows how well the score is supported by data. It comes with a label: consolidated, partial or preliminary. ESGreen only publishes a score when there is enough data; while the data is being completed, the company appears as “collecting data”.
Why doesn't a company with no data get a low score?
Because a lack of information is not evidence of risk. The Score reflects what is known about the company, and what is missing shows up in the Confidence Index instead of pulling the score down.
Does the self-assessment change the Score?
Yes, and only for the better. Proven ESG maturity in the Evidence Assessment adds points to the score, and companies that did not respond lose nothing. Maturity never erases a proven serious fact.
What caps the score?
Proven serious facts, such as being on the list of employers using slave-like labor, an active sanction or an irregular registration status. They cap the score, whatever the rest of the profile. Indications, such as an ongoing lawsuit, count in the dimension where they appear, without setting the score on their own.
Which layers make up the ESGreen Score?
Legal: critical lawsuits and occupational health and safety. Tax: tax compliance. Environmental: socio-environmental and embargoes, and environmental infractions. Integrity and Governance: global risk lists, integrity and anti-corruption, corporate structure, registration data and CNAE, and news and adverse media. Climate: climate risks. The ESG compliance and performance track record counts as maturity, which adds points.
How often is the Score updated?
In ESGreen Monitoring, the score of the entire base is recalculated every month and with every relevant new fact, and the monthly history shows when the risk changed. In the Pre-assessment, the Score reflects the date of the lookup.
Is the ESGreen Score a credit rating?
No. The ESGreen Score is an assessment based on public and regulatory data and on proprietary models. It is not a credit rating, an investment recommendation or a legal opinion, and should be used as an input for decisions made by the institution itself.
Does the ESGreen Score assess individuals?
No. The ESGreen Score is for the company (CNPJ). Partners, directors and other individuals are tracked in the Individuals (CPF) offering, with their own analysis and alerts. The legal bases for processing personal data, the data protection officer and the data subject channel are described on the Trust page.
How do I know where each record came from?
Each record that weighs on the score comes with its source and collection date, and the score includes its breakdown by dimension and by layer.
How does the Score reach the institution's systems?
Through the platform dashboard, the Pre-assessment report, Monitoring alerts, API or batch processing.
